11 Reasons Why I'm Still :) @ UD...

So as all of you are making your college decisions, if you look back to my post you can see what made me choose UD. But now after a year of blogging, I’m changing my post to why I’m still as confident, and happier than ever in my choice to attend Delaware. So here it goes!!

1. It’s ALWAYS warmer here than it is at home. =me getting my tan on earlier than in MA.

2. I can have cheesesteaks whenever I want and people don’t make a weird face when I describe what they are.

3. There’s so many cool clubs to introduce you to new people, and offer something new.

4. I have been able to explore 4 new cities in 2 years (NYC, Baltimore, Philly, and DC)

5. Rita’s definitely keeps a smile on my face.

6. Main street’s food, and brocolli bites.

7. Laying on the Laird Campus Turf on a beautiful day.

8. I’ve learned to live independently on my own, and figured out how to figure out solutions that I used to depend upon from my parents. Being so far away from home, it has forced me to adjust to independence, and take on more responsibilities for myself.

9. UDairy keeps coming out with awesome new flavors..

10. Every day there is a new event, or speaker occurring on campus to teach me something new.

11. Every week gives me a new experience, adventure, or teaches me something I didn’t know before wether it’s academic or socially related.

Ogilvy and Mathers

This past Friday I went on a “field trip” to New York City to visit Advertising companies with the University of Delaware’s marketing club. We visited two advertising firms, Arnold Advertising, as well as Ogilvy and Mathers. Not only was it exciting to spend the day in the city, but it really put my future career into perspective. It gave me an idea of more credentials that I should have on my resume, as well as important insight to my dream role of being an account executive one day. One company that we in particular visited was Ogilvy and Mathers. Their company, and environment painted the picture of my dream job for when I graduate college. While their programs are exceptionally competitive to be accepted to, and landing a job is even more difficult I am determined to get my foot in the door with their company, even if I have to do some serious leg work to network.

Blue Hen Leadership Program here @ UD

So this week I’m blogging from HOME! It feels great to use my own shower, sleep in my own bed and best of all open up a fridge full of my favorite foods :) But an opportunity that I recently learned about here at school was the Blue Hen Leadership program, otherwise known as BHLP. This is an awesome program here on campus that I first learned about through my sorority, that is designed to create, strengthen, and promote leaders amongst our campus. BHLP consists of 3 tiers of certifications and this Spring I will be earning my Tier 1 certification. Each tier represents a level that an individual has completed in the program. Tier 1 asks that you attend 10 events, Tier 2 implements a project, and tier 3 is service learning. I think this is an excellent program that I decided to get involved in to add something to my certifications on my resume, and to hopefully give me an advantage when applying for a managerial position one day. I started my certification process by attending a 7-hour conference followed by a series of presentations which focus on ways to promote yourself as a leader, improve and have also included some inspirational stories. If you’re an incoming freshman I highly encourage you to check out this program! It’s easy to complete, a great thing to write on your resume and very useful!
