This weekend has me absolutely beat. I’ve been waking up at 6 AM and staying up until 3 AM some nights because we had sorority recruitment at Delaware this past weekend. For those of you who don’t know, sorority recruitment takes place every year at the beginning of the Spring semester and lasts for the first two weekends. The whole purpose of sorority recruitment is for girls at UD who are interested in Greek Life to be matched with a sororities, and for sororities to find the girls best fit to represent their legacy. Last year I was on the other side of recruitment; I was getting to know all of the different sororities, figuring out where I wanted to belong, and was making my choice. This year things are a bit different since I’m now an initiated sister and I’m the one who is choosing what girls would be best fit in our sorority. I love the devotion, and enthusiasm that my chapter has during these two weeks, and it’s so exciting to see who will be our new baby hooties (we’re the owl sorority)! We’ve been practicing for HOURS how to have an effective conversation with the new girls who are rushing, as well as practicing the skits that we performed last night for them. We did three dances to renditions of Space Jam, Umbrella by Rihanna, and California Girls by Katy Perry which we Chi-O-ified to better fit our purpose. While I’m completely wiped, it’s been so exciting to meet the fabulous girls that participated in rushing, get a little exercise in LOL and also as corny as it is, work on my networking, and selling skills through talking to all of the new girls. A week from today is bid night and I can’t wait to see who my new sisters will be!
